Hurricane Idalia’s destruction, in pictures

Hurricane Idalia is shifting its manner throughout Florida and into Georgia, leaving devastation and destruction in its wake.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says 16ft (4.8m) storm surges had been forecast in some areas as fierce winds push seawater inland.

“There will likely be particles,” Governor DeSantis warned, including that some counties will likely be unable to afford the whole value of clearing areas which have been struck by the storm.

“The state will wish to assist,” he says.
