The developer behind The Callisto Protocol, Putting Distance Studios, has laid off 32 staff from its workers. Questions started after a number of LinkedIn posts appeared, and the layoffs have been later confirmed by the studio.
In an announcement to IGN, Putting Distance Studios mentioned, “Putting Distance Studios and KRAFTON have applied strategic adjustments that realign the studio’s priorities to higher place its present and future tasks for fulfillment.”
The developer continued, “Sadly, these adjustments have impacted 32 staff. Honoring the invaluable contributions of every departing crew member with materials assist within the type of outplacement providers and significant severance packages is our high precedence throughout this troublesome second.”
Putting Distance Studios is the most recent online game developer to enact worker layoffs. Over the previous 12 months, different studios resembling Digital Arts, Embracer Group, and Relic Leisure have let builders go in giant numbers. The layoffs come at a time of nice consolidation within the video games business, and it stays to be seen if the same destiny will meet any of Activision Blizzard’s staff if and when Microsoft’s pending buy is allowed to shut.
The Callisto Protocol obtained its closing story DLC again in June known as Remaining Transmission. In GameSpot’s The Callisto Protocol overview, we mentioned, “Although it begins off on a powerful word, The Callisto Protocol’s deal with action-heavy spectacles fails to adequately discover its horror and overcrowds its weak fight mechanics.”
